Dentacor — Informed Consent Disclosing Absence Of Dentist
Before performing any RMA-authorized procedure, a Dentacor-employed hygienist must obtain patient informed consent that explicitly discloses the absence of dentist supervision and explains that a hygienist does not have the full training or scope of practice of a dentist.
What Counts
- Informed consent obtained from the patient prior to the procedure
- Disclosure that no dentist is supervising the procedure
- Explanation that the hygienist's training and scope of practice is narrower than a dentist's
- Consent obtained and documented for each patient, not a one-time site-wide waiver
What Does Not Count
- Implied consent or boilerplate intake forms without the absence-of-dentist language
- Consent obtained after the procedure has begun
- Consent that characterizes the hygienist's scope as equivalent to a dentist's
